(flat measurement - 160cm X 80cm)

Protection for Banana friut

Protect your banana bunch by covering the developing fruit with these quality bunch bags. Uncovered fruit is easily damaged by wind, sun, birds, bats, possums, and other animals. Bagging helps shield the fruit and reduces its attractiveness to pests, improving both yield and appearance. Please note: No tie or string is included with the bags. Most growers prefer to secure them using zip ties or string.

Banana fruit Bunch Cover Bag X/L

πŸ“ Bag Size

The flat measurement of the banana bunch cover is 1600 mm x 800 mm, providing generous coverage for most home-grown and commercial banana varieties. The bags have an approximate thickness of 40 ΞΌm, offering durability while still allowing good airflow.

  • Air-Flow: 20 small holes throughout for optimal airflow
  • 🎨 Bag Colour Layout

Each bag features a 20cm blue strip at the top, followed by an 80cm silver reflective section that wraps laterally around the bag. This silver print helps reduce sunburn by reflecting harmful UV rays away from the fruit. The bottom 60cm of the bag returns to blue, completing the design.

***Postage

If these are urgent for you, we recommend using the express (fastest) post option where possible.

🌈 Why Blue Plastic?

The blue colour helps growers identify when the fruit was bagged. Farms often use multiple colours throughout the season to easily catalogue and track bagging dates.

πŸ‘‰ Always position the silver side facing the sun to help reduce heat stress on the fruit.

🌬️ Bag Design – Open at Both Ends

These bags are open at the top and bottom.

  • Tie the top loosely with string or a zip-tie.

  • Leave the bottom open for airflow and to allow the bag to hang below the last hand of fruit.

This improves ventilation while still maintaining enough ripening gas around the bunch.

πŸ¦‡ Protecting the Bunch

When the bananas begin to curve upward, it’s time to apply a bunch cover. Birds and fruit bats (especially flying foxes) will climb across the bunch to reach the flower for nectar, causing damage to the fruit.

Do not leave ripe fruit on the tree, as the strong scent attracts bats and can lead to severe bunch damage. Using a cover greatly reduces this risk.
